South Arm Primary swings, tackles and catches waves with Sporting Schools
Two years ago, South Arm Primary School in Tasmania joined the Sporting Schools program to provide a more diverse range of sporting activities to students.
Delivered by qualified external coaches, students have been able to learn and enjoy different sports – a huge win for a school located in a small community!
Joannie McDermott, Sporting Schools Coordinator for South Arm Primary School said the program was brilliant and very rewarding.
“As a small school with limited funding, Sporting Schools has given us the opportunity to offer new experiences to our students. Not only is it an easy grant to apply for, the coaches are excellent with the students and the whole school can participate! It really is fantastic,” Joannie said.
“Some of the programs even include sporting equipment which is not only a welcome addition to our resources, but also helps us to keep students interested in the sports and developing their skills. We will definitely continue to apply for Sporting Schools funding as it is invaluable to the school and our students.”
Sporting Schools has provided great outcomes for teachers, students and families at South Arm Primary School.
